Elizabeth Lambert

elizabeth-lambertThe highlights of the women’s college soccer are very rare and there is no much talk on it but sometimes there is a good reason behind bringing such highlights. Something similar happens in a game between the New Mexico Lobos and BYU Cougars. During the match, a catfight took place which makes the game more interesting to watch.

It was the semi-finals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament between the New Mexico Lobos and BYU Cougars where the fight incident occurred. It was an ordinary game at the start but things started going crazy after BYU had taken a lead. It was not looking like a battle at UFC event and not a game at the the Mountain West Conference Tournament. [...]

Biggest Losers Running Detroit Marathon

detroit-marathonDetroit marathonThis upcoming Sunday, October 15, some familiar faces will be running at the Detroit Marathon. I’ll be running the half-marathon (one full was more than enough for me) alongside fellow Biggest Loser Season 7 contestants: Helen, Damien and new lovely wife Nicole, Carla. Some faves from Season 6 will also be running: Coleen, Amy C. and Shellay; and from Season 2, Pete Thomas.

Pops (Ron, my dad, if you didn’t know) is going to be doing the 5k, but is having knee surgery this month, so its all still up in the air. Renee, mother of Michelle from season six, will also be doing the 5k.

There are tons of events going on this weekend for the marathon, half, and 5k, and spots still open to run/walk/jog/skip/whatever – so come out, and have some fun!

USA vs Honduras Live

Football, Soccer, Sport 10 October 2009 | 0 Comments

The stage is set for one of the biggest matches for these two countries in recent months. With the qualifying for the 2010 World Cup down to the last stages, every soccer match counts. And for the USA and Honduras, this encounter may spell the difference between qualifying outright for next summer’s big soccer event or waiting for the results of other matches in the line up. Eighteen months of CONCACF qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa comes down to two matches over the span of four days. [...]

Angola Race Against Time

Angola Race Against Time

angola_stadiumFriday of this week marks 100 days from the start of the African Cup of Nations held in Angola.

Ghana and the Ivory Coast are among the sides already qualified so the likes of Chelsea’s Michael Essien, Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou will be travelling to the Southern African nation alongside Kolo Toure of Manchester City with Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor still hopeful of qualifying.

But is the country ready to host a major football tournament?

A billion dollars have been spent trying to get the stadiums up to scratch, building new roads and refitting the airports. But my understanding is that, of the four venues that will stage the event next January it will be a race against time to get at least one of them ready. [...]

MSI Soccer

When you put your hand up to become a soccer coach you are taking on a huge responsibility. Along with that responsibility comes accountability. It does not matter at what level we are coaching, the responsibilities and accountabilities are the same.
A number of families involved with the county’s youth soccer community have united to defend a soccer coach who was accused last week of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl while attending a soccer camp.

Juan Jose Aranguri, 46 and director of the South America Soccer Academy, has stepped down as coach of a girls’ team with the Bethesda Soccer Club and he has been suspended from other coaching duties with MSI soccer, which is one of the county’s largest soccer clubs, pending the outcome of the criminal case against him. He was arrested last week for allegedly inappropriately touching a girl in July while she was a student at the academy.

ESPN’s College Gameday

ESPN’s College Gameday

davematthews-196x300There was a time in my life when I really liked Dave Matthews Band. That time was called “freshman year of high school.” Hey, I got down on some Dave. I’ll admit it. My current snobby Pitchforkian musical tendencies aside, I can remember a time when I rocked out to Tripping Billies in my 1991 Cutlass Supreme and thought I was just about the most interesting person in the world.

Those days are over. Mr. Matthews hasn’t released a decent record in years. At this point, the band is reaching that weird Jimmy Buffett level where you don’t actually have to write new songs; you can just uniformly perform the ones everyone wants to hear, and your drunken crowds will love it all the same.

Which is why it seems like College Gameday’s decision to pick Dave Matthews Band as the official band of the show in 2009 is a weird one. I’m all for reaching wide audiences, but really? Dave Matthews? That’s what you’re going for?

I suppose if ESPN PR rep Jenny Zimmerman’s tweet on the matter is any indication, Dave is still popular at the four-letter:

Funny the Way it Is!! DMB is the official band for ESPN college football coverage this season. I’m psyched, under the table & dreaming…

Ew.

Fortunately, none of this matters to me; I’m always way too hungover for College Gameday. This is just another of alcoholism’s many perks.

College Football Pick: North Texas vs. Ball State

Soccer, Sport 3 September 2009 | 0 Comments

It’s time for American tackle football, the regular season edition. One of the most appealing games for football bettors is North Texas at Ball State. The Cardinals are a 16.5 point favorite at Bet Online.

At GodsTips, we are going with North Texas and the points. Here is the football betting analysis:

Remember one of our most important Golden Rules and one that the square player cannot grasp is this concept: uncertainty is the enemy of the oddsmaker and hence the ally of the sharp player.

The sportsbooks despise the fact that both teams are debuting new QBs. It’s certainly a downgrade for the big chalk and all indications are that it’s an upgrade for the significant underdogs.

North Texas QB Riley Dodge did run the same offense system in high school.  He can only improve a Mean Green offense that was dead last nationally each of the last two years in offense.

Those numbers are a bit deceptive as North Texas has played a BCS heavy non-conference schedule during that span including Oklahoma, LSU, and Kansas State.

Dodge is no slouch. He is a former Class 5A Offensive Player of the Year in the capital of high school football Texas.
