Kimmel On Leno

kimmel on leno | kimmel leno | kimmel as leno | jimmy kimmel leno | jimmy kimmel on leno | leno kimmel - Movieline already seen the taped that Kimmel would be appearing on The Jay Leno Show tonight to take questions from the man himself, after Jimmy Kimmel performed a devastating, Jay Leno send-up his own show.

So what went down when Kimmel appeared on Leno’s regular “10 @ 10” featire?

“He was sorta being increasingly bitchy throughout — he compared Leno’s relationship to Conan to a stripper’s relationship with a john,” says our source. “He accused Jay of trying to trick him to host The Tonight Show just so Leno can take it back from him: ‘Listen Lucy, I’m not Charlie Brown, I don’t fall for that trick.’”

Still, says our source, Kimmel got really brutal on Conan’s usurper at the very end of the segment.

“Listen, Jay: Conan and I have children. All you have to take care of is cars,” Kimmel said.

“We’ve got lives to lead here, you’ve got 800 million dollars. For God’s sake, leave our shows alone!”

Vatican Slams “Avatar”

Actor, Actrees, Entertainment, Movie 11 January 2010 | 0 Comments

Vatican Slams “Avatar”

Avatar has taken more than $1 billion dollars in its four weeks at the box office. Filmgoers across the Globe are in awe of the film, which place on the planet Pandora in 2154, light years away from Earth, where humans have established an environmentally-destructive mining colony. Despite all that, James Cameron’s 3-D sci-fi adventure has failed to impress the Roman Catholic Church.

The Vatican brands the film bland, cliche, and overly-sentimental in reviews issued this week.

Avatar, which will be released in Italy later this week has received scathing reviews from Vatican Radio, as well as the Holy See’s official newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano.

“It has a great deal of enchanting, stunning technology, but few genuine or human emotions,” L’Osservatore Romano wrote of the epic, which has received generally favorable reviews since opening in the United States and Britain. “Its significance is in its visual impact rather than in the story, and in its messages, despite the fact that they are hardly new.”

“Cameron, concentrating on the creation of the fantasy world of Pandora, chooses a bland approach. He tells the story without any profound exploration,” L’Osservatore Romano added.

Avatar was also on the receiving end of harsh criticism from Vatican Radio, who predict that the film’s faults will negatively impact its place in cinema history.

James Fortune

Actor, Entertainment, Music 11 January 2010 | 0 Comments

James Fortune

James Fortune never imagined his accompanied drum selections for his father’s church choir at the tender age of five would lead to a worldwide ministry today that uplifted and empowered God’s believers. Ten years ago, God gave James Fortune the vision to form Youth For Christ (YFC), a youth ministry focused on reaching youth through song and dance. YFC ministered at churches, workshops, youth events and conferences throughout Greater Houston, Texas. Each performance embodied full energy and power that showed youth praising God was exciting and life fulfilling.

Since the beginning, James Fortune’s ministry centered on young people’s life struggles of peer pressure, drug addiction, fornication, club hopping and all other acts of ungodliness. James expresses “The youth of today must realize that true happiness and fullness of joy is only found in the presence of Yahweh, our Heavenly Father.”

Mid year in 2000, Yahweh led Fortune to change the group’s name to James Fortune & FIYA (Free in Yahweh’s Abundance). James believes “Our Fathers’ will is not for His children to live a defeated and broken life full of uncertainty and anxiety. Yahweh has promised us that blessings would overtake us if we fully obey His Word.”

James Fortune & FIYA released their debut album, entitled You Survived!, in 2005. The group’s single, “You Survived,” garnered national attention, climbed the R&R Gospel charts, and exposed James Fortune’s stylistic songwriting expertise. “You Survived” soared to No. 2 on R&R Gospel Charts, No. 5 on Billboard Radio Charts, and celebrated as the No. 7 most played Gospel Song for 2005.

Because of the message embodied in You Survived, James Fortune was honored at the 19th Annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards and received the 2006 ASCAP Writer’s Award for Gospel Song of the Year. This was a notable and rare honor for a newcomer to the gospel music industry, but an honor James believes was given from God and recalls the lyrics of the single “After all that you’ve been through, now you know God carried you through the rain and the pain, you called and he came, you survived!” That same year James Fortune showcased on the One Church Tour where he shared the platform with renowned gospel artists Kurt Carr, Vicki Yohe, RIZEN and Smokie Norful.

Since 2006, James Fortune and his group FIYA have amassed a career overflowing with appearances accompanied by GRAMMY Award-winning and notable artists such as Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, Mary Mary, Stevie Wonder, Prophetess Juanita Bynum, Israel, Tye Tribbett, John P. Kee, and many more. They have performed on major television shows, appeared on national radio and other media outlets such as The Jeff Majors Show, Bobby Jones Gospel, Trinity Broadcast Network and the Gospel Superfest.

After a two year period of praying, fasting, writing and recording, James Fortune and FIYA released their sophomore album on February 19, 2008 entitled The Transformation. The first single, “The Blood,” a tribute to gospel great Andrae Crouch, was released on a compilation and circulated on national radio which opened the door for the second single, “I Trust You.”

“I Trust You” has been the #1 song on the R&R Gospel charts for 10 weeks after climbing the charts for 26 weeks overtaking the six-month reign of the single “Never Would Have Made It” by Marvin Sapp. The single has already garnered success and secured James Fortune & FIYA a Stellar Award Nomination for Contemporary Gospel Choir of the Year, an appearance on the Gospel Music Channel’s The Kitchen Sink, an appearance on Trinity Broadcast Network’s “Praise the Lord” and a plethora of nationwide performances. The group is currently planning for an international appearance to minister to the world.

James Fortune has taken the initiative and believes his mission is to draw lost souls to Christ, encourage you to share in Christ’s unconditional love and peace, and live a life free from bondage and strongholds in God’s abundance according to John 10:10. Because of his calling, Fortune constantly writes ballads and Sunday morning worship songs, collaborates with stellar producers and songwriters, and creates music complete with life transforming principles.

James Fortune is a family man that recognizes his success is only as comparable to his obedience and yielding to God’s will. He invites you to transform your life and remain committed to your God given journey.

Marvin Sapp He Saw The Best In Me

Marvin Sapp He Saw The Best In Me

Marvin Sapp He Saw The Best In Me, According to the website, The Belle Report, the night was filled with power, purpose, praise and laughter as the opening act was Sapp’s own brother: gospel comedian Henry Sapp. Ray Bady, youth pastor at Houston’s windsor village church, served as the host. Songs including “Freshwind”, written by Jonathon Dunn, “He Has His Hand on You” written by Stan Jones and “Here I Am” had the congregation on their feet, and disappointed only when Pastor Sapp and his singers stopped singing as witnessed by Belle. One of the top favorite songs for the evening, “He Saw the Best in Me” included these lyrics;

He saw the best in me, when every one else around me, only saw the worst in me. He’s mine, And I’m His and it doesn’t matter what I did, He only sees me for who I am” This sounds like another hit CD for Marvin, who has hit his stride after many years in the business. He told the Belle report, that the above song came to him in the same vein as “Never would have made it” and that he was not going to keep the song had it not been for his label encouraging him to record it. The project is slated for release in 2010 with a working title of “Here I Am”.

The recording was streamed live at verityrecords.com

Dennis Haysbert

Actor, Entertainment 2 January 2010 | 0 Comments

Dennis Haysbert

Dennis Haysbert looks good in a suit, and his imposing frame and commanding voice make him ideal for roles as respected, but generally liked, authority figures. Although he does indeed excel at these types of roles, that isn’t to suggest that the talented actor is without humor or a certain alluring charm.

With a kindly face that suggests a sympathetic nature fronted by a confident exterior, Haysbert has excelled at portraying everything from detectives to presidential candidates, all undeniably convincing and with the sort of complex emotional texture that makes them entirely three-dimensional. A San Mateo, CA, native and graduate of Pasadena’s American Academy of Dramatic Arts, the burgeoning actor made his earliest appearances on such television classics as Laverne && Shirley, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, and The Incredible Hulk.
