With the possible exception of the O.J. Simpson trial, it would be hard to think of a tabloid-ready celebrity scandal from the past 30 years that provokes a more purely, intensely, overheatedly emotional response than the Roman Polanski rape case of 1977. (He fled the country early in 1978.) It’s a safe bet that a lot of people, upon reading the headline that Polanski had been arrested in Zurich, with the possibility of extradition to the U.S. to stand trial on that charge, greeted the news with more or less the following sentiment: “Good! It’s about time that the authorities caught up with him. He can’t dodge the consequences of his crime forever. In a just world, there is no statute of limitations on what Roman Polanski did.”
About two years ago, I would have felt more or less the same way. But then, early in 2008, I saw the revelatory documentary Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired, which takes on the full and fascinatingly complex legal and moral drama of the case. Not just the emotions, but the facts. Not just the issue of whether Polanski committed an unspeakable crime (something that the film never disputes), but how it all played out, within the U.S. legal system, at the time. [...]

Who on Wall Street is willing to break camp and call for real change in the industry that crippled our global economy?
Strong managers and real leaders not only identify problems before they develop, but they define and implement solutions as well. No one individual or institution led us into the current economic mess and no one individual or institution will lead us out. That said, if leaders in finance want to regain a degree of credibility and respect, they can not expect to be accorded those benefits by merely identifying problems in global finance. They must also provide answers and policies which cut across the entire global economic landscape and serve the interests of all. I have yet to see this type of leadership from anybody on Wall Street or any other center of global finance.
Identifying a problem without proffering a solution is nothing short of pandering. I witness exactly that in reading the London Evening Standard’s, JP Morgan’s London Head Slams ‘Greed’ of Bankers:
Bill Winters One of the most senior investment bankers in London has weighed in on the controversy over pay in the industry, attacking City and Wall Street employees as “greedy” and “inept”.
Bill Winters, the co-chief executive of JPMorgan’s investment banking arm, laid the blame for the financial crisis squarely on the shoulders of his fellow bankers.
“The crisis is about the collapse of the integrated wholesale banking system. The primary culprit was a wholesale banking market where borrowing was made to the wrong people at the wrong price,” he told a debate hosted by the Investment Management Association. [...]

Yes, Saturday Night Live new girl Jenny Slate’s f-bomb was the most thrilling part of the show’s otherwise bland 35th season premiere. It’s not like we’ve never heard that word before, and it’s not like accidental verbal naughtiness has never happened on SNL (I still distinctly remember my extra-young self watching Cheri Oteri cringing as she contributed to the swear jar), but the pain still felt fresh with hot embarrassment.
This was partially due to the fact that it’s just a generally bad thing to have happen on a player’s first show (and in such a mediocre sketch, at that) but mostly because of this face that she made after she caught her boo-boo. Twitter exploded with people’s camera phone pics of this one moment.
Jenny Slate, welcome to the big time.
Usually, featured players kind of lurk in the background or pop in for split-second lines and visual gags until a few months pass. Slate has been doing a bit on the Thursday “Weekend Update” specials, so maybe they let her slide by. I was surprised to see a brand-new featured player lead a new sketch so early in the season, and maybe that’s the last time I’ll see one for a while.

An already pregnant woman who gets pregnant again! Shocking? Amazing? This is called Superfetation. Julia Grovenburg is a pregnant woman in Arkansas who has been diagnosed today as being pregnant with another baby again while she is still pregnant with a first baby.
You must be thinking about twins? But this is not the case. In cases of twins, the babies are born at the same time and ovulation occurred at almost the same time. But in this particular case which doctors called Superfetation, Julia is already pregnant and is expected to deliver in December 2009 but now while she awaits her baby, the doctors have noticed that there is another baby in formation in her womb!
Yea a 2nd baby which started to grow weeks after the first one was diagnosed.
